Hurricane Melissa strengthened to a powerful Category 5 storm and made landfall in Jamaica on October 28, 2025. The storm unleashed catastrophic flooding, landslides and widespread damage in Jamaica, Cuba, the Bahamas, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic, in the strongest storm on planet earth to date in 2025. Entire communities are evacuating and shelters are filling, even as those in Jamaica and Hispaniola already hit by heavy storms begin to repair. This fund will support urgent aid and long-term recovery in affected communities.
About us
What We Do
When Hurricane Melissa struck, thousands of families lost their homes. World Relief provides temporary shelters, roofing materials, and safe spaces for families to stay dry and secure while long-term rebuilding begins.
Flooding and infrastructure damage left many without access to clean water. We’re restoring wells, distributing bottled water, and installing purification systems to prevent waterborne diseases in affected communities.
Our teams are delivering food parcels, hygiene kits, and basic supplies to families cut off by floods. Every package helps meet immediate needs and restores dignity in moments of crisis.
Local clinics are overwhelmed. We’re partnering with healthcare volunteers to provide first aid, essential medicines, and mobile medical services to families still recovering from the storm’s impact.
